8 days ago today and I am up and walking pretty well with crutches. The new joint doesn't hurt like it used to, but boy, the muscles are sure sore. Looks like they were beaten to a pulp with a hammer. Looks like I have to take off a few more weeks from work. Not as young as I used to be I guess.
I was gone for a couple of weeks.
Glad it's getting better! :) I called a couple of times since I hate typing, but got the answering service instead. Keep up the good work! BT wife is having more surgery on the 11th. Sheeesh!
Almost 4 months today and feeling a lot better. Now my "bad" knee hurts worse than my replacement. I guess that is a good thing.
Yesterday ws three months since the first operation and about 6 weeks since the second one. I am moving better though I still have to be carefuol not to overdo it. I did that the last two days because I ws feeling better and today I am sitting with my knee up and ice on it. A "fool" never learns!
I am a hell of a roofer, but not much of a doctor. I would think that you had a piece of cartlige stuck in the joint and it worked its way out. that would do it for sure. Maybe you need an MRI to look at it inside and perhaps some of that Arthroscopic surgery to take out the offending piece. How is that for a diagnosis from 1,000 miles away? BTW, I will be your new doctor under Obamacare. good luck with that one. I do use nice new sharp AJC hatchet blades when I operate though.
Why does the pain begin when it does? To assume I "hurt" myself when I haven't any physical incident. It doesn't wash. It has to be something else. I was not injured. B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
It will "come" and "go", but eventually it will stay more than it leaves and it will become intolerable. that is when you will have to consider replacement. I wonder what they did before replacement surgery? I am working hard in the pool everyday and getting stronger by the day too. I find I can keep working a couple minutes more each day I work out and I can stand for another 10 minutes each day without such pain. It is finally coming albeit slowly after about 11 weeks, and I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. Maybe another 2 months or so and I should be fine. I have a lot of work to do when the weather breaks so that is important. We will see.
good luck with that knee big guy. Listen to the wife.
Last Friday I had sever knee pain. The Lovely Mrs Ciak offered to get the car and drive me home. Interesting it was the left knee. I could not walk on it. Sharp pain. I had been experiencing minor aches in the knee for a few months. At first I thought great now I,m finished for any useful activity . Today I'm walking painless . What happened? My knee is fine and never had any physical damage. B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day
Old School Said:I wonder how to speed things up a bit.quote]Put a treadmill in the corner. Put a harness in the ceiling above it. At night, just 'saddle-up' and exercise it while sleeping. :P The meter on the treadmill will tell you how far your walked in your sleep. That way, you'll know how long you slept!
I hope it keeps getting better. Wife's is getting better sicne the Dec. re-operation.
I went for a visit today and he said that the knee is coming along very well. it looks better, but it is still stiff. He said it will probably take about a year to be back to "normal" I have a lot of work to do between now and then. I wonder how to speed things up a bit. More time at the gym and in the pool plus stretching. I did see a poster in the Dr. Office showing a woman that was talking about her knee replacement and she was saying "Why did I wait so long?" Yeah right!
I think it's time to talk to a lawyer. There is something wrong
A letter to the hospital, and another office visit next week. I HAVE to be getting better as I have a lot fo things to do in the spring. time is wasting on me, and I have to be busy. thanks for the calls and emails and words of support. It means a lot to me. John Crookston
I don't know what to say. Second opinion maybe?? I just don't know. I sure hope it all heals properly and soon. :(
You poor guy, I hope you don't need to get the other knee done. I had a friend get a new knee and was up in no time. Perhaps a visit to another doctor? or a sports therapist. Two months of suffering. Heads need to roll.
Another week and and a half. I am walking now, but as soon as I am up for about 3 hours, it swells up and then I can't. I am spending a lot of my time with the leg elevated above my heart and with ice on it. After over 2 months, that doesn't seem right. I have an appointment with the doc next Wednesday and we will see. The incision looks great but the pain sucks after I have been up for a while. About 90 degrees bend too. Not good!
