A certain insurance company turned down a claim on a modified bitumen roof smooth surfaced roof, hail was 3 to 6 inchs.A 5 v crimp roof next door that you can jump to was pounded it is at least 40 year old v crimp and about a 22 gauge metal totally destroyed.Cars under flat roof that were exposed to hail destroyed, marathon vent on flat roof crushed.Multiple hits on eave flashing, also found a hole right through modified where it ties into shingles, three tab shingles were decimated. Oak Trees over roof lost all thier leaves and severly gouged.Ive never seen damage like this and no roofing system is designed to take this kind of pounding, homeowner gets letter stating flat roof was denied because it was decaying. It is not my customer but i inspected the roof him and couldnt believe he was denied,it is beyond bad faith and i advised him to file with the insurance commisioner office and give his agent an earfull i also told him to have call me if they think theres no damage anybody that tells a modified bitumen roof can withstand that kind of beating is a liar!I am so sick of of lying cheating insurance adjusters in this state acting like thier experts and ripping off the insureds, this insured has been with them since 1959 and they have had all his coverage. And i repeat someone else i roofing his house, i have nothing to gain in this but the fact this cat adjuster is nothing but a lying snake oil salesmen.I will post pics of the damage soon. it is catostraphic damage nothing was spared windows blasted out,im surprised the bricks wernt cracked!

Chuck that is good info. I have thought in the past that 10% would be a good number for this service. 10% after all is much better than walking away from BOATLOADS of work

AND this is what the storm chasers should be doing. Get the hell out of the roofing business and get the claims to where they should be for the legit contractor:

I have not seen one claim of the thousands I have seen in the past 3 years that the initial estimate from the adjuster was fair and reasonable for the amount of work required.

It has been getting worse. Time for Public Adjusters and Attorneys to start digging in and helping policyholders stand up for their rights under the insurance contract...

Your creating an argument that commits the fallacy of Affirmative Conclusion from a Negative Premiss. Look it up. Here is an example No cats are marsupials. Some mammals are not cats. Therefore, some mammals are marsupials I'll let you know up front I'm teasing with this. On the other hand there is truth in every humor. And as you question my integrity, i have a reputation for giving honest assetments on roof damage! This same company invited myself and one other local company into become prefered contractors a couple years back. And when i asked why they stated thier field adjusters recommend us from dealing with us on claims and we were honest about it.I did not accept thier offer as it was very one sided and they do not use prefered contractors in cat situtaions. And as usual i would have been working for the going out of business rate. The Bunkie storm is complete destruction, but i will not be working it as it is a race to see who can give away the most for free.I have some commercial work ive been invited to bid but the vulutures are there and the insurance companys are eating up the moronic pricing.

He read me the letter of denial he recieved from his insurance company,i could assume he made it up as you seem to think i am.But it was denied, it is a bad faith claim and i hope he persues it till they pay him or sues, he"s no fool and he"s been around long enough to see he"s being screwed. But as always you seem to be defending the insurance industry you represent,i can say its not the good hands people on this one.So you believe modified bitumen can hold up to 3 in to 6 inch hail and this hail dropped niorth of me and wether i persue hail damage or not, when i see someone getting screwed by thier insurance company it piss me off!Insurance companys prey on homeowners ignorance of the claims process"s and fail to make the insureds understand what recoverable depreciation is.You are quick defend the slithering snake head that feeds you.

The phrase "ad hominem argument" comes to mind. In other words, if you are trying to convince someone of something, using premisses that the person accepts—whether or not you believe them yourself. This is not necessarily a fallacy and is often rhetorically effective. You except insurance work seek it out and then present an argument like this. With no other information. Are you sure the claim was denied? How can you substantiate that evidence etc etc. Hmmm Complaints of paying for hail damage that isn't, not paying enough to satisfy some contractors, paying more than enough for others. This is no evidence at all supporting contention of BS, in fact it is contrary evidence. The impression is created of Insurance Company's being the bad guy. This false impression is reinforced by many on here with misleading impression based on emotion. IMHO B) :) :) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day

And as far as decay goes the roof was leaking and at the eave and the hail exposed that damage by blowing thru the modified and leaving big holes, before the hail this would have been a repairable issue and this roof had 5 to 10 years of life left easily,i told him to keep me informed how it goes with his agent.I also told him to talk to his nieghbors and find out how many others are being denied, looks like they could file a nice class action against the insurance company.
