Tuesday, first thing in the morning, I was backing my dump trailer back into postion along side of the house when, all of a sudden my truck drops a foot with a *thud*. "What the heck"!! I get out and my left rear has fallen through the sod into a hole with the axel sitting on the ground. For the next hour, I started a procedure of jacking and blocking till I got the left rear high enough that I could shove a 2x10 across the hole. Unhooked my trailer and pulled the truck forward. Found out that I had fallen into a 3'x 3'x 3' deep abandoned 'culvert' type thing. It was brick lined and DID have a thin concrete lid with the sod on top. What a way to start a 90* day.
Bet he remembered real quick!
A cistern perhaps?
I've got one. Monday, I pull up to a light and a totally original Norton is in the lane next to me. I roll down my window and ask the guy if it's an 850 Commando, he replies, it's a 750 Commando and we talk about it briefly. The light changes and the guy revs it up, nods to me and takes off...right in to the bumper of the Buick in front of him (talking to me, he forgot he was in the left turn lane).
