This is from A roof coating add. I've never been A big proponent of any coating that claims it holds up to ponding water. Does anyone have experience with any products that work with ponding? Also, I'm of the school of thought, drains, put in drains and downspouts.
Do you need to repair, maintain or restore a commercial roof? We've got the product for you. We're revolutionizing the Roof Coatings Industry with SureCoat Roof Systems. Single Component, Warranty even with ponding water.
I am in no way endorsing or disclaiming, I've sat through sales meetings with folks coming in and doing presentations, and never has any of them ever claimed they could suppress ponding. They always stated that their product could not be " guaranteed ".
Oh yea, that reminded me of a metal tile looking roof mansard on a strip mall. The property owner was paying a guy to repaint it every 2 years so SureCoat went in and coated it. They can do colors on these products. I don't know anything about the details. They were just showing me the photos about 6 months ago. I will look to see if it's on their website.
Tinner, you just keep doing what you are doing. You are a craftsman whose skills can't be replaced. Apples to Oranges.
Well I went and met with my friends at SureCoat the other day because I was thinking about them after your post. I assigned myself to become their new marketing person. Kinda pushy, you think? They were kind enough to give me the chance. I think all they need is a little more exposure, cause their products are amazing. We talked about them going back to roofs they have done over the years to take photos that show how it's holding up. They recently visited a 14 year old roof that still looks great. What could be a better sales tool than that?
Let's see what can happen if Vickie puts her mind to something!

Thanks for the clarification Tico. It's just 'personal' with me. I just don't play well with paint. WCIS?
tinner666 Said: Maybe I quit roofing now and just coat the roofs. Will it work on steep slate roofs? Do I need to remove hte slate and felt?Everthing has its market. I'm down here in south Florida. Where coatings are applied, A good product with A solid warranty can give A minimum of 10 years if applied properly. Properly being key to its life span. Span, proper, are synonymous with any roof covering or walls/ windows etc. It can be applied for A minimum of 1/3 what A new flat job will cost. Another thing with A new roof, with the culmination of roof consulting and counties and municipalities bringing roofs to A minimum of their new state codes for the substrate itself, many property owners are hanging on and doing so barely. For these owners A 10 year "breath of fresh air" for 1/3 the cost keeps them off the rolls of bankrupt and foreclosed. I saw it when I was doing roof sales down here. So many condo and townhome communities as well as commercial entities were/are in need of time. Products like this are actually not only economically assisting people they are giving them peace of mind. You can google map units all along the south Florida coast and 5 miles in its extremely obvious who's used similar products and also obvious who could use it. I can google in an hour 100 addresses that are in need and at the same time see who bought A time policy. I am neutral, I am not A sure coat salesman. Just someone who is vested in what helps.
Maybe I'll quit roofing now and just coat the roofs. Will it work on steep slate roofs? Do I need to remove the slate and felt?
Slater, I agree...you won’t know until you see it yourself. Why don't you give it a try? I can send you a sample to see for yourself. If you are in need of aged photos here you go: http://www.surecoatsystems.com/photos/Roof-Flat-Roof-Commercial-Building-Rudell-before-SureCoat.jpg 12+ Years old. After this photo was taken the owner renewed their Pond-Proof Warranty for another 10 years with one gallon per square.
we'll only truly know about these things when these products have done what they claim to do for the entire period they claim they're gonna do it. i hope it works
Please feel free to contact me with your questions. I can get you any technical data and product samples that you want on our products, including a copy of the warranty that states is coverage for ponding water. There are no limits on time or depth of ponds because the perm rating (rate at which water can pass through it) is less than one and the elongation is perfected to thermal cycle year after year without cracking, chipping or peeling. I can be emailed at jamie@surecoatsystems.com or by phone at 877-823-7873.
That's why I'm asking in depth. I've seen as it was just A band aid product and followed it along. I've been doing small jobs with elastomeric here and there, then paying attention to the improvements of polymers and the adhesives. The cohesiveness when cleaned, primed and applied properly I've seen folks get 10+ years out of A hot roof. Way back in the day folks would get their rock roofs spray coated, some doing it several times. After Andrew we did some, they were messy, yet you could see where the roof had A leak by the staining, no repair to the layering, just coated and these roofs were as much as 30 years old or more. I was just in Miami and I'm A roof lookin fool. I still see several rock roofs every day. Some folks still request them.
I don't trust any bucket roofs. :)
I sincerely wanted to know. I was doing some repairs on A flat hot and rock. I looked across the ocean of warehouses and every one could use attention. At an office I worked in recently they brought in some stuff they wanted us to push, it wouldn't take ponding of any sort, yet was deemed "top of the line".
How funny you should mention them. Well I personally know the SureCoat people. They have dined at my house. I go see them every couple months and give them a few suggestions on marketing. I have seen the product work. I've seen their jobs. The Government has run tests on it and has used it for test cases. (they would have to give you all the details on that but it's really impressive). I wouldn't doubt their guarantee. You could literally walk on a Surecoat roof with high heels on! You don't have to mix it and it doesn't smell.
Why have you really never seen it before? Because they are a small company with a small marketing budget. But they are also smart and have also done a lot of homework and research over the years. Surecoat truly is a hidden gem. You will be seeing more of them in the future. You can order a sample and play with it and see.
