Read this. http://www.dailyherald.com/article/20121104/entlife/711049999/ What roofing supply sold that much product to the homeowner anyway? Why would someone take advice on this from a handyman in a newspaper? Is this bad advice or am I wrong? I don't know it all you know.

You aren't reading the whole thing. What about the pink bathtub? If I had a pink bathtub I'd never ever change the color on it. At the end of the summer it would make the raw, worn fingertips look almost normal. I tell myself, "Pink is good. It's natural to get pinks." On the other hand, covering your entire roof with high density polyethylene and modified asphalt stuck to the deck is really really not natural. It sounds ghastly when you think about it.

That column is in the paper every week so I read that yesterday and also thought it was ridiculous. I rarely agree with anything he has to say about roofing and in fact e-mailed him a year ago about some other stupid idea that he had. I'm sure he thinks he is giving good advise and a lot of people read his column and take it all as factual. Too many advise givers that haven't a clue. Not only do you have to educate the homeowner but you have to try to persuade them that not everything they read is true.

They probably demanded it! If they can vent it properly, they will have no problems....IF
