OLE Willie

We just had a wind storm of over 60 mph about a month ago and a lot of local people got new roofs and now this happened Sunday. lol

They are already here. Been here for 3 or 4 years. They come and go like the wind.

I fix their crappy roofs all the time.

Last week a man calls me about a leaky chimney. I go inside and check out the ceiling, take some measurements and go up top to do the same.

It was the chimney. They had used 4 x 4 hemmed wall flashing for the pan in behind it and there was no cricket. The front apron flashing was cut too short also and the homeowner had been up there caulking the crap out of everything.

I took out all the old flashing, installed ice/water shield all around it and all new pre-painted aluminum flashing. ( gutter coil )

He calls me this morning and I was kinda shocked thinking this was gonna be my first call back for a warranty issue in over a year. He says great job on the chimney willie. I have another leak on the back that sprung up Sunday.

I fixed that one too and it wasn't until all this that he informed me it was a storm chaser job and he had already left the area.

While doing the repairs I noticed most of the shingles had gun nails imbedded into them and shot in at an angle.

Probably not big enough. Marble size and smaller. But from what I understand it was larger just up the road a bit.

They had the main state highway through here shut down because of all the hail on it!

My wife said there was still hail on some roofs this morning when she took our daughter to school.

How big were those? 1/4" or 1/2"? And did you save some in the freezer for later use?
