All this talk of falling and not a single picture! In this day of cell phone cameras, it should be pretty easy to do. B)

When I realized I was on the way to the ground today, instead of wasting my time grabbing stuff, I was able to grab my camera to take a picture.

I couldn't get a hook ladder on the ridge due to the vents, and I didn't feel like scaffolding, so I just slipped the rippers onto 100 year old 1" wire nails to climb the roof.

There is a reason you're not supposed to do that if I'm not mistaken. B)

On a single story you have about enough time to think, "Wh...???" I've done it a half dozen times in forty years. Nary the slightest injury. Never any tensing up. Yeah, restoring order in the pouch thing is annoying.

I haven't and wouldn't ever want to fall farther than that. Just not interested in going through it. If I thought I might be able to do a flip without spilling a can of paint or losing the pipe, well then, in that case I might be tempted to try it. Especially if it was in front of my kid.

I joked about falling yesterday while on the ladder and talking to the wife about her imminent hospital release.

Then I fall off the ladder! :woohoo: Aggravating as all get out picking up all the nails and screws that popped out of my pouch! :( Tuck and roll is awkward with tools on! B)

Not to worry OS! :) I have another ripper down lower to catch me, hooked on a very old wire nail.

If you relax and enjoy the fall, the landing isn't too bad. If you panic and tense up, it really hurts. B)

OLE Willie

It won't hurt you to fall off a roof.

It's the sudden stop that's sux!

watching countless people fall off roofs, I never thought it looked like fun.

though, when I was littler my Dad was 2 stories up a ladder painting a house , holding the paint can in one hand, brush in the other and a smoke in his mouth. The ladder tipped and fell, he jumped off, did a flip in the air, landed on his feet without spilling any paint and the smoke in his mouth.

that was cool.

Damn-it tinner, you know better. At least set a jack on the bottom at the ladder so you have a staging place and a catch plank.

You need one of those GoPro Hero helmet cams. You need to be able to use your hands to claw for traction AND still get the action.

OLE Willie

Dang it man!

You work way too high and steep to be falling off.

I hope you were able to stop down around the ladder.
