We're building a new chopping rig for my son. Kade, Shane, Robert, etc what would you have on your dream emulsion rig? So far we have: 1. 14' v-nose CM cargo trailer with side door and double back doors and 5200 lb axles (wanted 7,000 axles but the wait was too long). 2. 500 gallon bulk tank (wanted 1,000, but, axles...). 3. 4-piston pump and elec start 16 hp Kohler v-twin engine. 4. Air compressor with eolect start Honda 13 hp engine. 5. Emulsion hose reel, air hose hose reel. 6. 50 gallon aluminum tank plumbed into pump. 7. 50 gallon water tank plumbed into pressure washer. 8. Generator. 9. Chopping gun. 10. Single wand for aluminum coating. 11. Spare parts toolbox with blades, rubber wheels, nozzles, spare ball valves, bypass rebuild kit, etc. 12. Awesome graphics package.

This is the rig I always wanted to build but nobody would by - I want it to have all the bells & whistles...well, all of them that 5200 lb axles can handle...should have 1,500 lbs extra payload available for more goodies.

I think the housing was only around 4". On the Moyno pump I think the 9 meant the stator had 9 lobes. Long & skinny. When we first switched from cutback top emulsion the rotor would be stuck to the stator the next morning and we'd have to use a 36" pipe wreck to turn the stator to break it loose.

9m4 was that 9" housing with a 4" stator?

I used to hate changing stators on those Moyno 9M4 pumps back in the early 1980s. It was a great pump but the way the Kold King rig was built around it, changing out a stator was a pain in the butt. Took about 1/2 a day. I used to dread it after I'd start getting chunks of rubber clogging the tip coz I knew it was just a matter of time before the stator would need changed. But man those suckers would pump the cutback! I think they were capable of 52 gallons per minute but we had them geared for a lot less.

Yes they are a beefed up moyno.

I'd like to see a Foretron pump. Are they like a Moyno?

OS, CM trailers are top of the line, all steel. We stopped using them years ago in favor of Titan Trailers which are made by former CM employees and are similar to CM but cost a lot less. I ordered a custom-built Titan trailer but they jerked me around and kept delaying me so I just bought a CM.

That sounds pretty good only thing you may add would be water injectors. your son will be vary happy with that im sure! also if you could add one trained spray crew now your son will really love it! as for my self i love our foretron rigs my favorite one weve had since 1973. they are bullet proof! im excited to see your new rig it sounds awsome!

Bummer. Hey, if you have to buy another trailer, you can get them the least expensive way from John's trailers in Northern Indiana. They make them right there and they have everyting. You order them and they make them and you can pick them up....whatever you want too. Cheaper than you could buy the materials, seriously!

Had my new 500 gal poly tank strapped into my pickup bed this morning and headed to the shop, down the highway against stiff winds. Looked in my mirror to see it tumbling down the highway and into the ditch. Oops! The tank is too heavy/awkward for one guy to load, but the motivation of embarassment gave me super-human strength and I was able to get it back in my truck.

Save for some serious road rash, the tank survived.
