Dreaming About OSHA

Roofguy

They say ones dreams are a window into his soul. Admitedly, I do not suffer fools gladly, nor a nanny state mentality. Thus, 2 such enemies all rolled into a single recent dream:

In this dream I found myself at a competitor's jobsite. Why I was there was not covered in the dream, but several possibilities come to mind. Just as I was about to climb the ladder to the rooftop where a crew was working, a van pulls up and on it's door is an "OSHA COMPLIANCE" sign. Out stepped the dimwitted doofus with his notpad, pop bottle glasses, and pencil protector in his shirt pocket. He walked over to a hot kettle and started measuring the orange cones to see if they were placed exactly right.

By this time a big ol' lightbuld had just illuminated over my head - an idea to kill 2 birds with 1 stone. Naturally the OSHA dweeb assumed I was with the roofing company doing the job. The conversation went like this:

Me: What the h### do you think you're doing? Leave our D### cones alone! OSHAguy: Sir, I'm with OSHA and I... Me: I don't give rat's ### who you think you are, you need to take your fat ### off this jobsite right now. OSHAguy: Sir are you threatening me? Me: You bet you last dime I'm threatening you (as I step closer to him), and I'm giving you 8.5 seconds to get your happy ### back in your little van and go away before I properly dismantle you.

So then in the dream I quickly drive to the parking lot across the street where I mix in with the other cars, and wait. Sure enough in about 10 minutes the police show up an handcuff every roofer onsite and haul them off.

The End. :cheer:

Not sure about much. I don't know if the sub thing will provide much protection. Does w/ the IRS, don't know about this racket.

I was watching the City do some work recently. A guy was picking up safety cones from roadway line striping. He was riding on a chair attached to a bumper. Not sure if he even had a seat belt on.

Anyways..........4,000 dead in Afghanistan......thousands more Americans dead in Iraq............I don't think the Gooberm$nt gives 2 chits

Did some research and found some interesting things about osha.

#1. The government is not subject to osha laws. In other words there could be two job sites side by side one government the other private. The private site has to be osha safe while the one next door does not have to be.

#2. Employers with employees are subject to osha laws. Guessing this means a general contractor with subs doesn't have to be compliant?

3. Volunteers are not subject to osha neither are farmers.

Never had osha stop out to visit one of my sites but my brother and aunt did (roofing). Both left without handing out any tickets as all workers on site were legal subs. This was a couple years ago though.

With the government as broke as they are with the "new" government more than likely they'll hand out tickets to contractors for everything.

What if you simply walked off the job or the homeowner demended they only step foot on the property with a search warrant???
