diamond snow

Hi ya'll about 40 yrs ago when i was a kid working for my dad we tore them off sometimes. they were always sprayed ? on shingle roofs never flat. the best i can remember it was about half inch thick ,white,and sparkeld. tear off was ugly,it just crumbled to little pieces. this was in central texas. anyone ever hear off or seen these

Never heard of it. Course, we are in Michigan.
