Sheesh! Are roofers, in general, the most crooked people around?

That's a good idea.

We try to make it clear but some of these storm troopers are slicker'n used car salesmen. They ask all the right questions, even come to Dallas to see the rig work on a roof, and next thing you know they have an emergency because they have a sure deal on a 2,000 SQR roof for their brother-in-law but they have to have a sample board, Powerpoint CD and literature to make the presentation tomorrow and need it all Fed Ex'd 10:30 am delivery. Like a sucker, I send it out.

And just when you think you're covering your bases and get a check before you send the stuff, the check bounces and next time you hear from the guy is 11 months later when he's working a different hailstorm and calls trying to pass himself off as somebody else.

It's frustrating because it forces me to be stingy with information even with the guys who're legit.

No........just not the most intelligent. A lot tend to shoot themselves in the foot instead of doing business the "right" way. As far as a profession of crooks I have to say that it's got to be lawyers........hands down.

There are 3 kinds of Roofers/ Roofing Contractors: 1)Lambs being led to slaughter, by either builders, the public, or.....envy --- The Majority 2)Those that know their costs--- The Minority 3)and the Crooked ones---- The Most Famous of all

Might be an opportunity in disguise.

They don't have to buy it, we train any contractor for free if they buy a used Kold King rig from anyone. As Kade has said here, it hurts all of us when guys are out their doing the system when they don't know what they're doing, so we'll train them for free so they'll at least know how to do it right. That doesn't mean they will do it right, but they have the ability to.

It's sometimes a frustrating process to promote the system and our package, and coddle a contractor for a year, sending him sales material to help him sell some roofs so he can justify buying a rig, only to have him buy a used rig and go out there promoting himself as a Kold Kinger when he's had no rooftop/rig training whatsoever. Every month I find some contractor that I've never heard of, using photos and video from our website and telling people he's a Kold Kinger. Unfortunately I guess we're going to have to sue a couple of them to make a point.

GKRFG Said: I dont think that roofers are the worst but there are bad apples in every field. It sounds like youve had some problems. Whats happening?

I've been around the roofing business 31 years and I'm embarassed that I think I just got scammed by a handful of them. I refused top sell a rig to 1 because he was too close to an existing customer - next thing I know I get 4 leads from 4 different parts of the country, all very interested in the system. Enough that I dropped my guard and sent 2 of them custom wood sample boards and our marketing literature before I got a deposit on a rig from them. Today I learned that they are all in the same clan of storm troopers and it appears they've just been shining me on to get free stuff after they bought a used rig from someone else.
