My son has returned from a 15 day guided surfing tour, My daughter lives in Panama, Panama City. The Very Lovely Mrs Ciak and I are now looking into moving or buying property on the beach.Costa Rica. Alot of the Sub Contractors around here are Costa Rican, there a mess! Its Halarious!

My b-i-l took his son and his son's friend down to Costa Rica to stay in his brothers' vacation house there. His brother told them to ALWAYS lock the house. The son's friend went back to the house one time to retrieve something and failed to lock up and they were robbed. I couldn't live somewhere that every time you left your house someone would be coming by and checking that all the doors had been locked. Pick Belize instead.

All I know is the sun shines damn near everyday in Costa Rica.

I have checked out some websites w/ forums like "Expats.com" (fictional name but there are similar ones). The forums are especially good as they relate everyday experiences.
