We have sprayed over EPDM and TPO and a few others what do you guys use to fix them?
Chopped fiberglass emulsion.
What does CFE stand for?
I agree with GE, with CFE we never primed anything. Never had an issue in over 30 million sq. ft.
People get lost in the purpose for priming sometimes: adhesion. Emulsion has very good adhesion and one of its main ingredients is very similar to dirt: Bentonite Clay. The stuff sticks!
with poly in the mix and a 15 gallon spec ponding water does not affect cfe if properly installed, remember cfe 15 gallon spec should be a minimum of 150 mils. most of them I see failing in ponds are due to not being cleaned enough or to light of spray. we have sprayed irrigation canals lumber ponds most are still holding tight. I looked at a roof my dad and larry did almost 50 years ago with cfe and base ply for 50 years old it still held out the water.
we don't primer anything we spray. we did 400,000 square feet of epdm its on our website and youtube. Clean clean clean!!!!
sorry for no response been a long week yes we take winters of its hunting and fishing season, and yes epdm is a great candidate for cfe we have been spraying over it for 20 years there are a few things to take into account but it seams to work really well just make sure if you spec 15 you put 15 don't spec any less.
clvr83 Said: Glass: You are able to spray CFE over EPDM?
Like many systems..... the enemy of CFE over EPDM is, ponding water.
Ideally yes, although emulsion has crazy adhesion.
Tim: Do you have to clean and prime first? I'm planning on shooting some on some scrap single ply at the shop to check it out, although I've been saying that for months.
We sprayed tons of CFE over EPDM. It is not approved but I think that is because it is such a tiny market. We did our first one over one that we owned and it worked great. Never had an issue with it.
]Hey Glassemulsion, do you guys still take the winter off? Sounds appealing right about now.
Glass: You are able to spray CFE over EPDM?
I am a Cconklin dealer and I have used the Rapid roof over mod and EPDM before. I am impressed with it's performance over the EPDM. You have to clean it with their cleaner and rinse it to get the dirt and carbon from the surface. they also have a sticky primer and when you apply over that everything stick rather nicely. It lasts too.
