Have any of you purchased and then used some of the Chinese manufactured power tools that are available thru Harbor Freight Tool and other American tool retailers. I often see roofing coil nailers priced at $69.99 and air compressors and/or electric generators priced at between $99.99 to 129.99. Just wondering if anyone has bought them and do you find them to be efficient and made to tough enough standards for working on roofs.>>>
Bought a 3 ton trolley jack from them a while back for fiddy bucks and it works fine.>>>
I have also bought a few things from harbor freight and they have been ok thus far.>>>
don`t go there, one of my early customers is a russian tool mfgr, gave me a set of titanium drill bits ,I still have in great shape 11-12 years later :) and those compressors ingersoll raqnd ,and campbell hausfield(2 names that come to mind from HD)are excellent,I have 2 that have worked for years-1 OF WHICH CAME WITH 3 BRAD NAILERS for only 170$>>>
I have bought some tools from them and for the price I can't complain. Flat bars ,hammers drill bits are all ok. I even bought a 18 volt drill for $29.00 and I could not kill it or the battery. It would last all day on a gutter job. I also got SDS drill bit set 1/4 to 1 for $19.00 that are as good as any I paid full price for>>>
I recently bought a 3' brake from them for $199. I went in to buy it and it was $259. They told me if I printed up the internet posting with the price they would honor it.
It seems to work fine for what it is, but some of the welds are laughable. I would have thought that if you can't weld better than that by the time you're 10 years old, they would have sent you to roofing school. http://www.harborfreight.com/cpi/ctaf/displayitem.taf?Itemnumber=91012>>>
I purchased a small pancake compressor years ago (from Harbor Friehgt) while doing new constuction comp as a lone roofer. purchased for $79.00, lasted 7 months. Cost more than the purchase price to repair, then upgraded to the Tradespro compressor you find in our local schucks auto supply, lasted one year. finially invested 1-Grand in a gas rol-air 6 years ago and still have it today, still operates very well!
As for nail guns, I purchased most of my nailers for cheap at the pawn shops...broken and rebuilt them to peak efficiency
AS THE SAYING GOES....YOU GET WHAT YOU PAID FOR!!!!!>>>
I saw a similar deal at one of the big box stores. All I can say is you get what you pay for. Or, if the deal looks to good to be true then it probably is.
I don't know about the gun but you've got to look and CFM that these compressors deliver.>>>
