A preliminary explaination is necessary. My husband always bought alot of his power tools at yard sales and auctions...ancient, not necessarilly working, heavy, annoying. Not one but many, was he a tinkerer to fix them NO, did he collect them YES. Me needing simple power tools for simple functions was surrounded with no working tools so today I bought myself a combo package of 2 speed drill/driver, sander, circular saw & power light. Laugh as you may.....I no longer have to wait on a budy showing up, asking for, paying for etc. Now may I do a lousy job because I don't have the know how YES, will I learn YES. 18V battery charged SKIL......way cheaper than Dewalt...I know, but I'm not a contractor. I will use this on occassion but it will be here when I need it and I won't have to ask or wait on anyone. I love it. Yours truly, PC :woohoo: :woohoo:

Yes, well done! Giving them to where they can be appreciated is a deed worth doing. I was under the impression that they might end up in the dumpster. Lanny

Lanny I have already made money from what was approachable. Now that I can actually sort through yes more to be made. About the books, my husband wanted them donated to 3 local libraries. Unfortunetely I had too many and also outdated. I donated them to a church that picks & chooses and sends them to Iraq & Afghanistan soldiers. That made me smile. My husband was a 2 tour Nam Vet so I think he will forgive me knowing that his wisdom is being shared with fellow vets. It's not about the money. Love PC

---Enjoy your tools. They are not cheap, believe me. They should sell well on Craigslist. I go to many auctions and pick them up cheap. Your garage could have some real value. Even books can be worth a lot on Ebay. Check the item on "completed auctions" to see what the selling price has been on any item you want to determine the value of. ---For example, I bought a box of Quilting books a garage sale for $15.00. My wife loved them and kept about 7. I checked Ebay and found that one of them was selling for about $19. I sold it for $15 and have another listed, my wife gets 7 and the rest we will donate. You never know... Lanny

Thanks for the Whoo Hoo Terry. Lanny, I kid you not. I just donated all of his books that were stacked on skids in the garage so I can now get to the tools. One big tool box I already sold. The second will be also, once I get it empty. Talking MULTIPLE ????? Just how many files, screwdrivers, snips, hammers, anvils, saws, pliers, etc., etc. I could go on forever, does one need? This is not including the band saw, router, and things I don't even know. It will all be sorted and I will keep what I need for personal use because anything more than what I can handle, the guy I'm paying will have them. I understand as contractors having extras but my husband didn't use the tools he just collected them. So if you're not laughing you should be.

Anyway I'm going to enjoy & experiment with my new toys. I am reading the instructions for proper use and will probably misplace them for further reference. PC

---I relate to tools. Not only do I have many I have 5-10 of some. I am sure I have 10 Skil wormdrives. That way I don't have to always change blades for different applications. I bet I have 10 Dewalt 18 volt drills. It is easier to grab a different drill than change the bit. Lanny

Whooo Hooo... you go gal!

I got tired of looking for a set of shelves that would fit beside my fireplace so I headed to Home Depot, bought the lumber and built them myself! They are rather intricate with different size cubbies on each shelf. It took me forever to do it because I wanted all the outside edges rounded so I sanded every one by hand. Yeah - I wasted some wood with miscuts but in the end I was, and still am, proud of doing it. Unfortunately, we moved out of that house and there was no place for it in the new house so we left it there.

Keep it up! Next thing you know we'll be looking for you at the flea markets selling elaborate bird houses and plant stands!

Oh Terry are we ever on the same page. :woohoo: I am proudly letting all know I ACCOMPLISHED MY FIRST PROJECT TODAY. I fastened a clothing hook on the back of my bedroom door with my NEW drill in hand. I tried this so unsuccessfully for days by hand but today with my magic tool, it is officially fastened. Haven't hung a thing on it yet, too busy being proud, this is just the beginning. I promise to bore you all to death with my new projects. Love PC

My husband is also a tool "collector". What he collects is new - Rigid, DeWalt, Milwaukee, etc. We recently started a massive overhaul of the basement because he wanted his own workshop. He decided to move all his stuff from the area of the basement where it was in to the coal cellar under the front porch. All the things we had stored in the coal cellar made their way out into the basement and the coal cellar was lined with shelves and he bought a workbench. Now the workshop is so full you can't move in it. *Brilliant idea!!*

He bought tools for every job he ever had or thought about having. Plumbing, electrical, mechanic, roofing, gas line and the list goes on. I often tell him that if Home Depot runs out of anything, they can come to our house to restock.

My only consolation is that our kids will have something to fall back on for their future.
