How many here are members?
They called me the other day again with the usual spiel- "Your company has been searched for on their site. For $600 you can be a member and an accredited business, blah, blah, blah. So I went online to check it all out and also to see what kind of ratings the competition have. It is obvious that the only companies with an A+ rating are members. We have an A rating. I found one of my favorite locals is carrying an F rating. I just can't bring myself to join after some of the things I have heard about them. The way they have the website set up, if you type in roofers with your zip code, only the members show up in a search. To find non-members you have to actually enter in a company name. So I just wondered how many here are members. I know we have discussed them before.
Not a member. Oddly enough it has never been even brought up by a customer.
copperman Said: The guys listed with good ratings around here are the biggest crooks there are and by far some of the worst roofers in the business. I dont believe the BBB is all its hipped up to be
Although you and I know who the crooks are in this business. Look thru a homeowners eyes. To them someone that doesn't have a BBB listing isn't ligit. The guys who are crooks are still getting jobs because of there ratings.
In our area it is closer to $600 per year. People do check our listing. We also had a bogus complaint. We deal with it by telling our homeowner up front. People seem to realize that there are crazy people out there always trying to get something for free.
Not anymore.
Like I say, hit delete-!

They call us about every three months. I hit delete- and go on!
We're members because here in FL it's almost a requirement. This state has so many crooks that people call the BBB first before even calling a roofer. Having an A+ rating with zero complaints is strong here........cost is around $400 a year.

We have been a member for many years. We had an A plus rating for a very long time until this lady ( who b.t.w. is a mental case ) filed an unwarranted illegitimate bogus complaint against us because the sheetrock nails were backing out of her sheetrock. Which is not uncommon for a house 30 yrs plus in age. My personal home was built in 1970 and has the same problem. Im 100% sure she had the same exact issue "before" we roofed her home. Anyways they will lower your rating regardless of the nature of the complaint. Either you get a complaint or not. They dont care if its legitimate. Nonetheless it still left us with an A rating. I just dont think its right that this can happen. I have had many customers tell me they would never do business with a company that is not a member in good standing. Other customers could care less. You dont have to be a member but it helps enough to make it worth while. The internet has actually made the BBB a better deal as customers can check on business easily and quickly online. And lots of them do exactly that. In spite of the 1 issue i mentioned above i still recommend joining. IN our area its around $400 per year.
We just joined, I don't need it, really didn't want it, but since I already joined ,I'll make the best of it, trial run, if not to my liking , then not joining next year. I think it is better for businesses, or to appear reputable. We definately did not need it for that reason.
Were members and as far as i know they only report on members we have a plus rating last i checked, but a lot of homeowners check this so i feel it helps to show were reputable company
