Saw it Thursday night, it's a great movie. Even better if you read the book. Parts of it were like a kick in the breadbasket.
I was a huge Chris Kyle fan. I went to SHOT Show, in part, hoping to meet him in 2013. He passed between my wife and I as I was distracted watching ted Nugent, so the opportunity was lost. 121 days later he was murdered.
At the very end of the movie is actual footage from the funeral procession. I am in that video although I'll need to see it on DVD and slow it down to pick myself out. It showed the people lining Hwy 287 in front of Sonic and the Pistols & Pearls store in Midlothian. I was standing right at the edge of the highway.
Go see the movie, support a war hero's family.

Yeah I guess I've seen all the Chris Kyle interviews/YouTube several times. His explanation about Hathcock made sense - Hathcock had to wiggle his way thru the jungle whereas CK had more opportunities.
I'm a hard guy to impress; I can count my heroes on 1 hand. He was one.
Less that 2 months before he was killed, he and I sent private messages back and forth as I was considering taking some of his classes at Craft International. Several of the big name SEALs also have big egos. Brandon Webb, Jack Murphy (Delta), etc. When you say something on a forum that can be taken more than 1 way, they always seem to take it the way that was an insult to them, then they're quick to try to move the conversation in a physically threatening way. Chris Kyle was not like that, he always assumed you meant your comment the good way - he assumed the best in people.
I train with another SEAL who is that way, Jason Pike. Really down to earth.
You can go to www.booktv.org and watch the 1 hr April 7, 2012 interview with Chris Kyle. I read the book last summer . . . a very good read.
Chris stated in the interview that in his opinion, Carlos Hathcock was the greatest sniper ever . . . in the US and quite possibly in the world. His explanation in the interview of his regard for Hathcock is very interesting. I've read the book on Hathcock, "One Shot, One Kill" and have watched youtube interviews of him. Good stuff.
