Not a storm area, in fact the majority of our community has already gotten new roofs as recent as 2 years ago. I'd like to get some ideas about hiring field sales reps for residential
Where to look for prospects, ages and backgrounds What commission % rates to pay What monetary front end sign up bonuses to offer (example. Is $50 per too little, is $150 per too much ?) How quick is the learning curve once properly trained; 2 weeks? More?
Hays and Sons goes out on claims here in lieu of an adjuster.
My guess would be that the roofs they are gonna do get bought.......the others? Tough titty said the kitty

In North Texas, these types of guys are all over the place. First and foremost, they are good liars. Second, they just offer a "free roof".
Furthermore, contingency agreements aren't worth spit legally or morally. They rely on intimidation and the lie that somehow because they claim to be "insurance specialists", the company is going to waive some magic wand that makes the "evil" insurance company approve their storm claim. It makes the roofing business nothing but a racket.
Free roofs are insurance fraud and Texas just past a law that prohibits roofing companies from acting as "adjustors".

Deterioration is now classified as Storm Damage Willie.
What's a QC Manager that meets w/ Ins Adjuster?
How do you do "mainly insurance work" in a non storm area?
Natty, give me a call. :)
natty Said: If you are not storm chasing, then a salesman must have extensive knowledge about the roofing trade. How else are you going to price and recommend whats needed for a roof repair?Thats the problem with the roofing business here in North Texas. Too many salesmen and no tradesmen.
I dont know why anyone would get into the roofing business today except for the easy money of insurance work. It doesnt seem like anyone cares anymore. Wheel and deal then hire guest workers to slap on what purports to be a roof covering.
Not really Natty. I never get into bidding wars with others. I and my site talk quality only. There are Yugo buyers and there are Mercedes buyers, and there are Ferrari buyers. You have to pick your market and let them know what you can do for them. There are 2-4 companies in my area that are competition. I bid against them, but it's not a price war then either. The other 400+ companies in my area bid against themselves and each other. They can race to the bottom if they want, I won't.
I'll admit my situation is different and I no longer have to support a bunch of employees. I do feed jobs to certain other companies if I think they and their clients will be a fit. Matter of fact, I even send a few people to one of the lowest low-ballers out there too when I sense they'll be a fit. B)
We are a local company, have our own crews, work off of xactimate pricing and do mainly insurance work. What I am looking for is a combination of canvasser/consultant who can get the insured on contingency. Mat that point I have a quality control manager who meets with the insurance adjustor.
Not looking for tradesmen so to speak but do encourage knowledge of roofing.
Thanks

You know you can learn alot from our very own classified section on this site. Sheesh.
Are you talking about salesmen, canvassers or people with trade knowledge? (Shingles off/ shingles on ?)
Are you taking about selling or doing work for Exactimate pricing? (does $250 sq. sound like a lot of money?)
Are you talking about selling for profit or just beating up the laborers from Craigslist? (Here's a job address ....go do it...Oh BTW, which ones Pink?)
