Today, I met with an adjuster on a roof for one of my clients. Our discussion turned from roofing to military service. It turns out that we both marched in the same sand in Saudi Arabia during the first Gulf War. I know a lot of us served in the military for our great nation and I was just wondering who else on RCS has.

That's the basic problem Doc. There is little connection between what we do and what we hope to accomplish.

Udder 'n' dat, I don't want to hijack your thread. Your family is quite honorable. And you don't need me to tell ya that! :)

My father served in Korea, we lost part of our family in Vietnam, my wife and I served in the first Gulf War, my three sons served in the second Gulf War, right or wrong when our country called we served.

With that being said; my sons came home for Iraq many of their friends didn't and now our government gave back Iraq to the enemy of which many Americans paid for with their blood... I am sadden because I'm not sure how we will respond the next time She calls. Here I am in Iraq in 1990....

I came from the post vietnam generation. We thought that the government was finally reigned in and the stupid chit would stop. Could not have been more wrong. Neo Cons and chickenhawks regularly sending us off over another cliff.

Kudos to those that served. That is meant sincerely. However, The purpose has never been less clear than now. Endless, constant war is nothing new for humanity. For America it is more of recent thing.

I guess we've joined the rest of the world in their descent

Roofed with my Dad on and off while in school. After graduation and not being able to afford college, at 18 I decided to go into the Army. I was signing up for 8 years and planned to study computers and electronics. They bused me off to Nashville, TN for the physical exams and I scored highly on all the military tests. To the point that my recruiter told me not to let anyone "assign" a career because with my scores I could get whatever I wanted.

I had just two weeks before being sent off to basic training when I got a DUI and a years probation. I had been drinking with some roofing buddies. You can't go in the military while on probation. When I had just two months left of the probation and was planning to go to basic after that was up, I got my second DUI and TWO years probation. I was drinking with roofing buddies again. I never made it because of alcohol. But from what I've heard I would have fit right in.

Thanks for your service! :)

PS, I gave up drinking years ago. ;)
