I've set up the collapsable screen, plugged in my Bell& Howell projector. Prepare to be bored with vacation pictures.

There's mansard roofs on about half of the palace, none are used on the elevations in the back. Here's a picture of the mansard in a side court in the front.

Pictures can't convey how huge the place is. If you look at the rear view on the previous picture, all you see is the center section. There are wings on both sides out of view that are as big as the center section. And those wings have more wings extending into the front.>>>
If I remember right the architect was Mansart and that's where the term "Mansard Roof" comes from.>>>
Jed, I only had a day and a half for Paris, so all I saw of the Louvre was from a boat on the river. I did make it to Versailles, here's a shot of the backyard.

Here's looking back at the palace from the backyard.

Nice shots Woody. Did you make it to the Louvre, Palace of Versailles etc.......>>>
I've never even mentioned the welts and itches under my britches. That you would know that is spooky EGG.
Vaa, all around Lake Como is just amazing. The road on the same side as Lecca is where they filmed the opening chase scene of the last James Bond film (I think).>>>
Nice show. Great shots.
w/my compliments:
As I was going to Burg Eltz I met a man with seven welts. Seven welts beneath his britches From scratching seven travel itches. Seven Wonders & Seven Seas(s) Yet still he wanders as he pleases. When nothing's there to make him smile There's still the world of slate & tile.
