2011 was an improvment in the economy. My business did better.
Prices are getting slashed while material costs go up. OSHA in the mix now to slow productivity while realizing some very very minor safety gains.
Insurance work and with it pricing, continues to gain market share while slanting to the illegal, uninsured, unsafe contractor.
What's a fella to do?
This is good. we have about 5 new posts now.!
Life is hell and then you die. I go on unemployment when it is winter. Ahhh!
This was a 'mis-speak' I made earlier. "I keep raising my prices to cover demand".
I should have said that I was continually rasing prices to keep up with my costs. The demand, even then, is overwhelming. And even though I keep raising prices, I seem to be making less than a few years ago because I'm still not keeping up with costs very well.
Just picked up a 9 sq. rubber job today. The last guy out put shingles on a 1:12. 3 yrs old..........
It's been a Godsend! I keep raising my prices to cover demand by offering quality instead of cheapo jobs, and offering to do repairs, (on the repairable ones), for the people that got stuck when the lowballers went under. When lowballers have to keep cutting craftsmanship and using lessor materials, it equates to trouble for the homeowners and somebody has to help bail them out even if the repairs cost more than they paid for the roof. There's more that I'm leaving unsaid, but you get the gist.
