15-lb. "Barrett"

Came off the 1958 ranch house house we are doing, 2 layer t-off. Looks to me like it is better shape, is better saturated and more pliable than than any Brand New 15-lb. paper for sale right now.

I would definitely re-use this stuff before I would install any new 15-lb. felt on this roof..... or any roof for that matter>>>

Rag felt was made up of pure cotton available in those days in your old shirts.>>>

Was that felt paper just the plain old fashioned "Rag" felt, or was it asbestos felt paper?

Barrett was the premier manufacturer at that time, and we had to do a song and dance to become approved bonded applicators. They were doing fine, until they introduced a 2 for 1 promotion, whereby 2ply was supposedly contained in one sheet, and they offered 2 of these sheets as a 4ply bonded installation. They also got in trouble w/ an upside down roof, and using urethane atop the felt underlayment, and saturated same w/ hot and slag. I think they also had problems when their specs called for a solid mop on the base sheets over gypsum and lightweight decks. Bob Dingler was their tech guy, who happened to be married to one of the original Miss America's.>>>

It used to be asphalt saturated. It isn't now. It used to be organic and it is mastly fibreglass now too.>>>
