Yeah, not very realistic at all. According to the Roof Sales Mastery video below it is.

For us it will never be very realistic. We just want on the roof! We give the soft sell, make it easy for the customer to just say "Yeah sure, just go look at my roof." Even if at that time he thinks he won't use us.

We will then blow every other roofer/competitor out of the water with a fantastic proposal including drone video of his property uploaded to Youtube, thermal infrared inspection where warranted, Eagle View drawings, detailed specs, sell sheets, references from customers with our 30 year old flat roofs.

That works for us but it also means we will be bidding a certain percentage of jobs that we can't get, but just don't know it yet. Also, around here a certain percentage of the jobs you bid are for some guy who is friends with another roofer who wants to see what you're bidding - you aren't getting that job!

Back in the 1980s I cold-called, knocking on 40 business doors every day. On average I bid 2 roofs e very day and sold 1 of them. Average sales commission $400. Every door I knocked on was worth $10 to me. Made it easier to handle the 38 who rejected me.

It is a numbers game

Chuck Said: You guys probably wont believe this but the best stretch I ever had in 32 years was 34 out of 35 leads sold on the spot. I had my nephew running around with me and after a flooding rain we sold the first 18 repair jobs in a row on site, then missed one and sold the next 16 straight before we began to slowly come back down to earth! Im pretty sure you probably wont believe this either but I once ran 18 complete roof replacement estimates in one day and had 10 of them turn into signed contracts by the end of the week. I would tell yas some more but I dont wanna brag!

If they're selling 10 out of 10, they are leaving $$ on the table.

I just went about year and a half without trying to sell anything. Just took what came. And boy did they keep coming! One mistake was the calls I did not return....money spent on advertising and answering service down the drain. Plus some lost potential customers.

Reality finally hit back in August...I actually had to go out and chase leads again.
