ICP’s new logo emphasizes the company’s guiding principle of building connections that endure.

A good logo not only provides a brand with a distinguished identity, it evokes positive emotions, tells a story, and depicts the core values of the company at a glance. This is certainly true of ICP’s new logo and brand identity, which uses their name to complete a square to represent how on all levels, ICP is about building connections that endure.

The essence of ICP's businesses, this logo works on two fundamental levels, as a representation of the performance of products they provide that complete the structure, and as a representation of the service ICP provides to their customers. ICP is built on its strong relationships, you can tell by just looking at their name.

“At ICP, it’s our goal to collaborate with our customers and partners in a similar manner to how our products perform in an application,” said Doug Caffoe, SVP of marketing, ICP. “We form precise bonds, vital connections that contribute to the greater strength of the whole. Through this rebrand, we want to clearly articulate the relationships our customers can expect and the value our products can bring to every application.”

ICP’s growing portfolio is behind the new brand evolution, giving strong, unified visual identity to the brands that ICP represents. ICP is fundamentally a family. Built upon connecting homeowners with market-leading brands known for innovation, quality, and performance, ICP is always welcoming new brands to connect with, bridging the gap between customers and their product.

“Our reestablishment of the ICP identity serves as a means to honor our long history with customers throughout the industry and as a launch point into a future of shared and ongoing success,” said Doug. “As always, we’re looking forward to serving the industry to the best of our ability — truly forming connections that endure.”

The new logo represents a clear vision for ICP’s future, one built on the enduring connections the company makes with its customers and partners alike.

Save time and extend your roofing season with this waterproof, fast-curing silicone application.

Professional contractors have been turning to silicone roof coatings due to the many advantages they have over other types of coatings. APOC 585 Armor Flex White Liquid Silicone is the premier product for getting superior results for silicone applications.

APOC 585 Armor Flex White is a moisture cure, fluid applied, high solids, silicone coating. Armor Flex White creates a shield of protection over your roof with Pond-Proof Technology and cutting-edge performance. Engineered with "green" solvent-free polymers, Armor Flex White outperforms traditional solvent and solvent-free products including asphaltic, urethane, thermoplastic and other protective coating products. Additionally, Armor Flex White has minimal impacts on the applicator or our environment.

ICP Group has boosted the performance of Armor Flex to be the highest solid silicone on the market, giving it greater durability for commercial applications especially in areas with heavy rains and ponding water.

With 98% solids content, one bucket of Armor Flex will cure to a coating thickness two times thicker than most other roof coatings, this means double the protection for the same application. Roofers only need a single coat, in most cases, this can speed production and lower installation costs making them more competitive and passing additional savings on to their customers.

Unlike other coatings, Armor Flex begins repelling water immediately after installation creating a complete waterproof shield even with high humidity and drizzle, there's no risk of wash off. Armor Flex has a faster cure time and fully cures even in cooler temperatures which is why using Armor Flex silicone roof coating can extend your roofing season into the spring and fall.

Armor Flex enjoys a reflectivity rating of 90%, is independently tested and is listed by the CRRC, plus with low VOC, Armor Flex is good for the environment. Armor Flex provides the armory your roof needs to withstand wind, rain and harmful UV rays.

            class=''
            style=' '  loading='lazy' />

By Evelyn Witterholt, RCS Reporter.

Several buildings get a roof upgrade with this custom metal recoating project from ICP Group and Custom Coatings.

Since 2014, this group of buildings in North Carolina has had their metal roofs re-coated in this special project from ASTEC®, a roofing solutions company that is a part of ICP Group. The years long project to re-coat the National Wiper Alliance buildings has been carried out by Custom Coatings, and this year, they will have finished re-coating all buildings. Recently, we spoke with Shane Russell from ASTEC and Patrick Stilwell from Custom Coatings to talk more in-depth about the project.

Patrick describes the National Wiper Alliance property as being two different locations, both of which make up approximately 700,000 square feet. The project began as a metal re-coating on one of their buildings and since then, Custom Coatings has been re-coating all of their buildings section-by-section over the past eight years.

One of the main challenges they were presented with was the aluminized asphalt the roofs were previously coated with. “Asphalt and metal roofs are not really compatible,” Patrick said. “It's kind of like putting asphalt in the frying pan and putting it on your stove. It just heats up, cracks and it fails.”

Before recoating, they had to remove the existing asphalt coating to prepare the roof for the project. When they removed the asphalt, they found lots of trapped moisture that was causing the metal to rust. Many of the repairs they had to make were to combat and prevent any further rusting. Patrick said that ASTEC fluid-applied roofing products have shown amazing results in solving these problems.

Patrick broke down for us all the products used in the recoating project. They started by using the ASTEC B-16 Primer which neutralizes and prevents rust. Then after repairing or replacing the fasteners, they used the WPM 9 Sealant to keep everything in place. Once finished with waterproofing the roof, the 2000 Finish was applied, which according to Patrick, “has one of the highest reflectivity values of all the coating systems on the market from the different manufacturers.”

One unique thing about this project is the general timeline of it all. Rather than re-coating all the roofs at once, they’ve been working on them one section at a time. This is largely in part because of the building owners' budget. Shane says it works for them though because it allows them to “customize the spec to the roof’s needs.”

Rather than having to replace all their roofs, these building owners saved significant money by choosing a fluid-applied solution. Not only that, but Patrick highlighted the perks of the warranty renewal of a project like this. “The warranty renewal is less than half the additional cost typically, but on a flat roof, it can be a third to even a quarter of the initial cost to renew the warranty,” he said. “This is essentially the last roof that we're going to put on if they just allow us to maintain it every 10 to 15 years.”

Another upside to recoating these roofs is that it is a far more sustainable option. Patrick said, “I know that roofing waste is actually the largest contributor to our landfills and by not having to rip those things off, we help them maintain what they currently have.”

Why your logo is an important part of what your company tells its customers.

While a logo might seem small in the grand scheme of everything else going on with your company, it is the single-most definitive way consumers are going to connect with your brand. Your logo, after all, appears on everything — your website, your business card, promotional items, and most importantly your customer’s mind.

A vital part of building your company and your brand is building a logo. A good logo will illustrate everything you are as a company, as it will be reflected on everything you create. The logo is an important representation of who you are as a company, brand, and what you can offer your clientele.

Consider ICP’s new logo for example, which communicates their guiding principles of connections that endure by using their name to complete a square. Through this rebranding ICP clearly articulates their relationships with their customers, their logo cleanly communicates the company’s future under a strong, unified visual identity.

Successful branding is about telling a story that your customers can emotionally tap into. Consider Wil-Mar's logo, which is made up of a combination of the owner's first initials; their history and legacy of the business is told through this logo. W.R. “Bill” Merrin started Wil-Mar Products in 1990, named after the first half of his name combined with the first half of his wife's. Sadly, in 1995, Bill passed away as his products were beginning to take off. His wife Marianne took over the business and continues to run it today. Their logo embodies their story and drives home their commitment to being a family run business built on providing a unique product solution.

Another great example is SOPREMA’s logo of the mammoth, which not only reminds customers of the strength and longevity of their products but harkens to the history of the company. The name of the first membrane created by their founder, Charles Geisen, was the MAMMOUTH.

A logo can also represent commitment to the customer. It says that you plan to be around a long time. Companies like Sherwin-Williams have used the same logo for over a hundred years. In doing so, they invite customers to remember their history of reliability and quality.

Conclusion

Fantastic logos create a staying impression from their very first interaction with potential customers. It not only provides the brand with a distinguished identity, it evokes positive emotions, tells a story, and depicts the core values of the company at a glance.

A logo is important because it tells your customers everything they need to know about your company without you saying a word. A logo establishes a connection formed between the customer and the company, becoming a symbol of success that customers will look for in the future, augmenting brand loyalty and overall helping grow a business.

Karen Edwards: Hello, everyone. Welcome back. I'm Karen Edwards and coming to you live from the RoofersCoffeeShop sound stage at the 2022 International Roofing Expo in New Orleans. And I am being joined by someone who forgot to silence their cell phone. That's okay. Take your time. CJ Sharp is here with me from ICP building solutions group. And we've got a lot to talk about today. CJ.

CJ Sharp: Now I'm red, so okay.

Karen Edwards: Oh, it's okay. It's live TV, right? Anything can happen. So ICP just, I believe it was about a week or so ago announced their new brand and new logo. That's really exciting.

CJ Sharp: Yes, and this is our first show to bring four different products under the ICP umbrella polyset, Pli-Dek, APOC and roof slope.

Karen Edwards: Thank you. I would never have remembered all of those because yeah. You guys offer a lot of solutions to the roofing industry and I love the new logo. It's clean. It's modern. The colors are spot on, he's modeling it right now on his shirt. Yes. Looks fabulous. I also want to talk a little bit though, while this is the first day of the roofing expo on the show floor, there's been activities happening all week and one of those activities was yesterday. It was the community service day and we hadn't been able to do it in person. And now we're back and ICP is a sponsor I understand.

CJ Sharp: Yes, we sponsor breakfast. This is, I believe our fourth year. It's my seventh year actually volunteering. And a few years ago I had had breakfast and I saw somebody sitting across from me and didn't know who they were and got out to the bus and realized they were here for the IRE. We didn't know each other. There was no breakfast. And I asked Brandy, I said, well, there's no breakfast. She said, well, we need somebody to sponsor it. So we did. And that was about five years ago. I was actually with a different company, sponsored it for a year and then ICP picked it up. I said, I believe it's our fourth year.

Karen Edwards: Wow. I mean, that's important. That is your fuel for the work that goes on throughout the day. So that's a key part of the day, and I imagine you participated?

CJ Sharp: I did, I did.

Karen Edwards: How was it?

CJ Sharp: And it was awesome. And you know, there are several reasons that I always look forward to this. One is we have a lot that we can give back, number one. And I want to quote a Lebanese American poet who lived about a hundred years ago and this quote really kind of describes how you feel. And this quote is "I slept and I dreamed that life is all joy. I woke and I saw that life is all service. I served and I saw that service is joy." And I thought it just really hit. I'm like, that's really how you feel when you're out there helping. There's people, there's storms have hit this area. And we've done this cities across the country too. But the homeowners are always very appreciative, and not only do we get the blessing from helping them, but we get to rub elbows with a cross section of the industry. And every year I come away with a new friend, a new acquaintance in the industry that I meet.

Karen Edwards: When you give, you get. In so many ways. It's so true. And I've heard that over and over. And this morning in one of the class, there was a panel and one of the people was sharing the same message about how they participated in the community service day and it's just so rewarding, and that you do make friends, yeah. So anyway, let's talk about your booth.

CJ Sharp: Yeah. It's 1627.

Karen Edwards: And if I were to come by your booth, what am I going to see and experience there?

CJ Sharp: We've got some live product demos going on with those products that I mentioned. ICP purchased Gardner-Gibson about a year ago that comes with the APOC brand. So we've got a variety of coating products, roof restoration products that we're showing. We also have polyurethane two-part adhesives. We're doing some demos of installing insulation boards, and also the spatter application for fleece back single ply membranes. We've got our product, it's called roof slope that we're demoing. So if you come by, I believe it starts around noon and every, maybe one-hour increments, we've got various products that you can see. So yeah, come by and see us. And, it's very informal. We like to interact with the contractors in attendance and anybody who wants to come see what we're all about.

Karen Edwards: You know, we had a conversation earlier during our coffee conversations live and we were talking about, there's challenges with materials and that some contractors are seeing more building owners turn to options, like coatings to restore rather than replace. Which is, there's a sustainable factor to that. They're keeping material out of landfills. So if a contractor is interested in diversifying to add that as an option, how do you help them get into that?

CJ Sharp: Well, one of the things we like to do is anytime we can help a contractor, if we can walk a roof with them, not every roof is a candidate for a coating. But yes, that's a great point about prolonging the life until you can get other products. But the other thing that I think that coatings have come a long ways and they're not just to restore, they can actually be a sustainable system that can last for many years and not just to be looked at as a quick fix.

Karen Edwards: That's a good point. Yeah, and most come with warranties.

CJ Sharp: They do, they do various warranties depending on the product. And we have specifications that they can follow. If they want a certain warranty for a certain length of time, et cetera.

Karen Edwards: Do you offer certifications for contractors or training? What, tell me about that.

CJ Sharp: We do most of our warranties, you can get a material only warranty, but to get a labor material warranty, we have to have certified contractors like most of the system manufacturers do. And then there are some requirements in the specification and some field work that needs, some of our representatives will go out, look at the roof first, depending on the size of the job, do some interim inspections and then do a final. And then of course, there's the paperwork, the documentation that comes along with that. And again, the main thing is following a specification so that the roof is installed correctly.

Karen Edwards: Okay. Got it. So you mentioned the roof slope?

CJ Sharp: Yes.

Karen Edwards: Tell me about that.

CJ Sharp: Roof slope is a product that's used to level areas. If you have a roof that has low areas, you can, it's a cementitious product that you can smooth out and then put granules over to eliminate ponding water areas.

Karen Edwards: Excellent. Yeah. I thought that's what it was, but I wanted to hear it from the horses mouth just to be sure. And Pli-Dek?

CJ Sharp: Pli-Dek is like a decking system. It's multi-layered, it's got a lot of possibilities with the finishes and I have to admit that's one product that I'm not quite as experienced in as the other products.

Karen Edwards: Oh yeah, that's okay. Yeah.

CJ Sharp: But, again, come by our booth 1627 and we've got the expert over there named Jimmy, Jimmy Holmes. And Jimmy can tell you all about Pli-Dek.

Karen Edwards: And demos going on throughout the day. So yeah. Be sure to get by the booth you can see, witness, maybe try it out. Any show specials or anything going on, what are you giving away at your booth?

CJ Sharp: No, we have some beer in our ColorWise cups. We have ColorWise nozzles for our adhesives. If the glue gets below 60 degrees, the nozzle will turn blue. And our motto is if the nozzle turns blue, stop your crew. But we kind of took that to make it a little fun. And we have cups, we pour the beer in and the cup turns dark blue. So kind of like the Coors can thing, when the Coors is cold enough the can turns blue, similar to that. Yeah. Come by and see us, have a beer and come talk to us.

Karen Edwards: Nice. And if for some reason you were not able to be at the IRE this year, you can learn more about ICP, all their products, their new branding in their directory, on rooferscoffeeshop.com. It will give you links, product information, brochures, you name it, videos. Everything is out there that you need. But if you are here, do come by and see them. And then we will be coming back to you live again from the sound stage very shortly. So stay tuned, subscribe to our YouTube channel, ring that bell so you get notified and you will not miss a thing from the International Roofing Expo. CJ. Thank you.

CJ Sharp: Thank you for having me.

Karen Edwards: It was wonderful to have you, have a great show.

CJ Sharp: You too. Thanks.
