Woody is right. it is a side lap tile and each row has it's own number. 7 rows total, and no need to side lap them.
Rocky, I don't know why that happened. the pictuers are in reverse order and that has happened one time before too. I have to take a bunch of pictures each day and send them to the project coordinator and I also send copies to the guy in charge of facilities. He forwards them to the board members so that everyone knows what is going on. That was what was so funny about having his boss come up on the roof. She is a trooper though and very interested to see what is happening and the reasons we do what we do. With the scaffold like it is once she made it up the ladder she had no problems seeing everything and it makes it a lot easier for every one after them have been on the roof to know what the pictures really mean.
I just downloaded all of the pictures I sent out to the Coffee shop instead of trying to edit them. Much simplier and you get the whole picture too. Mike from New Zealand used to do that and you could actually follow along as he did the roofs. I hope it is not too much for you guys.
We have about 2 more months to go on it, maybe a bit more. There is a lot of detail work and that is what takes the time. A lot of the wood repairs we did is extra too. I had allowed for some, but I didn' t think there was as much as we uncovered.
Today, I soldered up the lead cap on top of the dome and finished the Flexim in the voids in the tiles. We will paint and finish flashing and tear down the scaffold from the roof on Monday and I can get some unobstructed pictures of the finished section. Then, on to the second dome.
Wowee, OS. You shoulda called up the EGGster to help on this one, it looks to be right up his alley.
Heckuva complex, steep bear, the bid must have been staggering.
Super job ole fella.
Duh, thanks woody. OS, I see so many error in your installation, I think you should tear it off and start over
Rocky, OS's picture is the last in the album. On the left side of the picture, your mouse should pickup an arrow to scroll back through the pics.
If a tile interlocks on the side (therefore not shingle style), staggering or straight bonding is only for aesthetics. Most of the flat turret tile I have seen has been shingle style, though.
OS, there was only one photo? what kind of tile are you using? was it premade for the dome,s measurments? did you have to cut the widths of the tile? I know MCA makes a dome or turret tile to measurements, they are all numbered and have to go to gether exactly to fit correctly? looks good. Might might have thought they every row might have been staggered half a tile instead of the bonded course. But it looks great, You must be winding down on this project?
OS, how many different sizes of tile is there on the round roof? Are you relying on the scaffold for fall protection? I would think that the drop from the top of the round roof was over 6' and require a rope to work on top or above it.
