I would imagine it would "work" over and old rubber ruof or PVC for that matter, if you could get the substrate clean enough. On an old build-up roof with gravel, probably not. The trick, as I told my friend is going to be the flashings and penatrations. At that price, it is about 2 1/2 times the cost of new rubber per square for materials, and even if it works like they say it does, every joker out there is going to be using only half as much per square to get more profit from each job and then they will surely fail.
I would imagine that if it is good stuff, it will have its' place, but it will never replace the "craftsman" on the roof. Too many hacks out there.
I talked to my friend who is interesting in it today. $100 a gallon, and 2 gallons per square. Probably works fine in the middle of a roof, but then again, so does rubber. In all of my years, I have never yet seen the "miracle in a can"
As I said to him, "how hard can it be?" Just roll it on and collect the money. Oh, "by the way, how long have they been making it?" Don't know. I kind of figure if it was that good, there would be millions of squares of it down by now. Time will tell.
Oh don't be so emotional - flat roofs are great, when you sell solar roof drain pumps. :-)
I waged many battles with the Conklin Rapid Roof guys back in the 80's. Every farmer and his dog was applying the crap. Truthfully though, it wasn't a bad product when applied right, but it was so expensive the contractors/farmers had to put it on too thin to bid competitively. I won a $141,000 contract to recoat the Morton ISD schools over their SPF/Rapid Roofs that had been hail damaged. Actually had a signed contract but another contractor had his attorney challenge our "unresponsive" bid and scared the school board enough to take away our contract. I could have easily sued and probably won, but suing a school when you do a lot of schools isn't too bright.
Has anyone investigated the "Final flat Roof .Com? Says you can apply it underwater! Maybe that is it!
Gosh, that was unanamous!
Coating flat roofs is a dumb idea. They are dirty , they can't be cleaned good enough for coating to stick .Coating material costs just as much as a fleeced back single ply.
"Dont know, but there should be a law against dead level roofs."
Funny you should mention that Fl. If you read the new Florida codes there is a law against dead flat roof Modernist architecture, A hint, Dead flat roofs are very sensitive to human traffic. B) ;) ;) B) Deep Down In Florida Where The Sun Shines Damn Near Every Day

Elmer, if you want to advertise on this page, please pay your money to the boss.
Thanks all :)
Firestone makes a coating for EPDM called AcryliCoat. We used it on a new installation at Gilda's Club in Pittsburgh. It is a 3 step process... clean, prime, coat.
Only leaks in winter?
Chances are best that it's condensation. Insulating the underside will create greater problems unless you have a 100% vapor barrier.
THANKS for all the input.what about conklin system has anyone used this? The reason for the questions i have a customer/friend that has a metal roof.I live in Wisconsin and they only have leaks in the winter time.we have talked about insulation but not sure if thats the problem or not. i'v talked to him about roof coating because i think it's a great idea but, he wants some kind of warranty. The other option is rubber/tpo but they don't have that kind of money.any ideas would be great. Thanks
If it works, yoou can't use it. If you can use it, it doesn't work !
