Dang, I wouldn't get a single app through the door with a $10.00 advertisement, and we live in a low rent district.
Depends on the job. Yeah $10 to start seems about right for roofing. I pay $150/wk at the car wash because 90% of the time it's pud work, with plenty of freedom to come and go...generally attracts retired persons who appreciate the opportunity to not sit around the house all day. During wet periods after a rain that equates to about $5/hr, but during the longer dry spells it's about $20/hr.
Just don't seem right to pay a guy less than $10.00 per hour. And yes if he works hard and really applies himself and listens and trys to learn definately do the right thing and increase his pay in 3 months. If in the 3 months you determie he deserves more than the $11.00 per hour then give it to him.
