OLE Willie

You mean like this egg?

I had my smart phone sitting on top of the stack cap with the smokes and gatorade, jamming to some classic rock. I'm pretty sure the sound traveled down the chimney chase and into the house. :cheer:

After all the years I've been doing this, I still get a hit out of being able to put stuff on top of a cap like that. One of those teeny tiny things that somehow packs a big pleasure wallop.

Those chimneys have made me a lot of money !

Builders to this day still don't know how to make them waterproof !!

I don't think there's any way he could have been any different. It was just his nature.

But even with all that stuff going on, I could still tell that he trusted me to do the work right. I don't think he fully trusts anyone or anything and in today's world thats somewhat understandable.

It was a nasty little job too. Leaking at both corners of the chimney. Two layers of shingles to deal with and rotten plywood at both corners to replace. Also had two layers of siding on 3 sides but just wood siding on the back side, and a rusted out chimney cap that I couldn't get him to let me replace. Almost forgot, the trim coil at the top did not go up under the cap. Had to take that off, raise it up and re-install it.

A big friggin mess. He's supposed to do the siding on the back side of the chimney and install a new cap himself. Said he was gonna make his own cap.

The metal on the corners is temporary until he does the siding.

Yup, all the time. Dealing with these kinds of people a lot, I have found that a quick, "I gotta get this done" and walk away is fine with them. they have stuff like that said all the time to them and they are used to it.

Just a more extreme case of " you don't know anything because you're a roofer" sans fart.

Here we have this weird Hierarchy that works like the gov't.: a top down based knowledge in the trades.
