Used a tile saw to cut straight line around the chimney, lots of brick dust and makes a dirty mess on a brand new roof...make the cuts on the t/off phase

That will work just fine. If you di it that way, just make sure and bned the top of the metal that you insert into the cut joint with about an 1/4 inch reverse bend as far as the break will bend it. When you drive it into the reglet it will bite like a>>>
